Buket talked about the convergence of passion with purpose – it’s a powerful concept that’s successfully working at the HBA. Volunteers from across the US and Europe supported by corporate partners is a winning formula!
Here are a few examples of success since we last met.
We continue double digit growth and have surpassed 6,200 members and have over 20,000 women and men in our international network attending the 300 events we’ll offer this year including the Leadership Conference in Washington DC November 9-11th.
Building on the E.D.G.E. in Leadership study results to improve women’s representation at senior levels, we’re investigating career tools to help the individual manage her professional development needs and companies attract, promote and retain talent.
Our Building Better Business Connections (3BC) program offers the corporate partner community in-depth information on how to start and ways to mature their women’s networks as well as how to identify and address hidden bias, a potential barrier to achieving true diversity.
The ACE award continues to honor internal leadership programs that perform. As constructive feedback is given to all submitters, I encourage every company to investigate how ACE can help – June 1 is the deadline so act quickly.
The Career Center job board now has close to 1,000 job postings and nearly that many resumes to help both job seekers and companies find the right match.
And Leadership in Practice is a new product that you’ll hear more about later. Regardless of your location, participants will have access through a virtual platform to resources to help them fully apply key leadership principles.
These offerings enable the development of stronger leaders as we work to bring you a leadership advantage.
And it’s all done by our incredible volunteers from our 15 chapters in Europe and the US working with our now 11 phenomenal staff and The Charles Group, who are the organizational backbone of this event.
Because we continue to receive requests to start new chapters around the world, our focus this year is to create a robust virtual presence so we can support members and companies where we have chapters as well as where we don’t.
The philosophy that underlies my remarks today is: working together will get us everywhere.
Working with people from all industry sectors, career levels, functional areas and geographies is a powerful tool to further the advancement and impact of women in healthcare worldwide – the mission of the HBA.
The HBA is working together with other organizations on several important fronts:
· We’re working with Vision 2020, an initiative to achieve true equality for women.
· We’re working with the White House participating recently in a round table discussion on women’s leadership.
· We’re working with strategic alliance partners, the American Heart Association as our latest alliance, to mutually advance our missions through collaboration.
Our HBA leadership conference is a case study on how working together will get us everywhere.
Volunteers from across the HBA work virtually to create a conference that addresses what companies need today, and prepares leaders to be adaptable and resilient for what will be needed tomorrow.
We achieve this because volunteer leaders have their fingers on the pulse of professional development needs and by working together in this virtual business network, not only advance their leadership skills through the committee experience but the outcome is a phenomenal learning event for conference attendees.
Networking is working. It’s strategic. It builds relationships. It results in superior business outcomes.
Working together will get us everywhere.
We wouldn’t be able to achieve the same level of success without our sponsors so please join me as we recognize the 49 sponsors of this year’s WOTY.
